If I can point to one thing that tripped us up from the beginning it would be that we started our transformation without first agreeing that change was necessary, much less clarifying what values, goals and collective understandings were going to drive that change.
So a small group of us (teachers) have decided to begin digging deeply into ideas about culture and leadership, two things we neglected, or did without, from the word go.
No illusions that we’ll convince the whole staff to join in the fun, but waiting for wholesale adoption is a fool’s errand anyway.
For now, we’ll start where we’re at. With books.
